Family Engagement
Family engagement is an essential component of high-quality early childhood care and education. Family engagement during the earliest years of a child’s life is one of the most powerful predictors of a child’s development.
Engaging families as partners early in the educational journey allows parents to establish strong home-school connections that support their children’s achievement long-term.
Progamming
Christopher’s Lending Library
HWCEC children can check a book out from the lending library, take it home to enjoy, and return when finished so other families can enjoy them.
Libby’s Brain Bags
Libby’s Brain bags are age appropriate educational backpacks for HWCEC children to take home for the evening and include fun activities to promote developmental skills at home.
Trike Theatre
Ask any parent or teacher — play is how our children learn. Trike Theatre offers a children’s theatre workshop where we enhance social and emotional learning, and celebrate children’s creativity and growth.
Young Explorers
37 North is a local outdoor guiding company that offers outdoor youth programming and curriculum for schools, after school programs, and private organizations or groups. Starting in June of 2023, HWCEC children will have the option to participate in weekly 30 minute outdoor programming lessons. Lessons will take place on the south and west green spaces of the HWCEC building every Wednesday from June 7th to September 27th.
Amazeum
The Scott Family Amazeum believes children are naturally curious and have a built-in drive to ask questions. Their Early Learner programs create a play environment that allows for young children (and their caregiver) to engage their natural curiosity, build on skills they already have, and take on new challenges. They will also offer facilitated parent-child activities at HWCEC. These programs are free for our children and their family.
